Chop Chop



The story

Chop Chop is an Asian restaurant in central Tel Aviv with a focus on serving fast, fresh, healthy and modern food.

When we got involved, the restaurant needed a complete branding process, including naming, brand identity, packaging and spatial graphics. We were also tasked with the entire planning and interior design of the restaurant itself, including custom-made furniture and products.

The space had to be functional but inviting, able to hold dozens of people at once: ordering, paying and then obviously sitting and eating, at lunchtimes and evenings and then at nights for the clubbers in the area.

A major challenge of the project was to create a cohesive identity within a very small space, with the entire restaurant measuring only approximately 60sqm.

The solution

We chose the name to reflect the main fare of healthy ingredients chopped up and stir-fried in a wok. ‘Chop chop’ also means ‘do something quickly’, which fitted the fast-food concept.

With a tight budget we had to come up with relatively simple but creative solutions in order to maximize the spatial potential as well as the visual impact and the design aesthetics.

The final result was a mélange of Asian street-market imagery, a bright, bold color palette, big typography and collage techniques, combined with a high-end atmosphere that fits right into the heart of Tel Aviv.
