Loft style dwellings are inserted into an industrial warehouse previously used as a tyre making facility situated in the Gràcia neighbourhood of Barcelona. The external façade was completely restored, its rationalist style design with symmetrical openings is typical of 1940s and 50s era architecture.
The building is a three storey container with pitched roof supported on timber beams hidden behind a parapet clad in a dark render finish on the ground floor and brick on the upper two floors. The original fenestration of the generous vertical windows was also preserved allowing abundant natural light into all the new living units.
The building required major engineering works and a completely new floor plate and roof covering to bring it up to modern day building standards. The loft units are airy and open plan with raw industrial style materials used for the common spaces and communal corridors.
